Environmental vision 2018 — Logistics gates

Version of Blueport and Dryport adopted by Provincial Staten van Drenthe on 3 October 2018. Blueport — Meppel has the largest inland shipping container terminal in the Northern Netherlands. This is part of Port of Zwolle, in which the ports of Zwolle, Kampen and Meppel work together.In collaboration with Meppel, we want to further strengthen Meppel’s function as a multimodal hub for the transshipment of containers and bulk goods through the Blueport project. The emphasis is on water and on the road. It is important to note that water-related activities are not simply interchangeable with lots on dry business grounds. Dryport: We are committed to improving the connection to the German main road network and the possibility of passenger and freight transport by rail. With this we emphasise the position of Southeast Drenthe as a logistics hub. Together with the municipalities in Southeast Drenthe and the business community, we work together through the Dryport project to create added value with the transport of goods along, to and from the region. The aim is to achieve a concentration of logistics companies, services and infrastructure. With this, we offer solutions to the Rotterdam and Amsterdam seaports, where the space is scarce and the drains are closed. Vision map.
