Dataset description

This table focuses on the perception of (in)security by young people aged 15 to 25. It is about the safety experience in general. The issue of disrespectful behaviour is also discussed. The data is shown for the personal characteristics of gender, age and for the total. The data in this table comes from the Safety Monitor (VM). This is until 2017 an annual (from 2019 onwards a 2-yearly) population survey on safety, livability and victimhood. Attention is also paid to nuisance in the neighbourhood, disrespectful behaviour, prevention measures, the functioning of the police and municipal security policy. As a result, figures are obtained in a clear way about the (experience of) security at both national, regional and (lower) local levels. In order to show how young people in the Netherlands are doing, the National Youth Monitor describes more than 70 topics in addition to this topic. The topics are called indicators. Data available from 2012 to 2019 Status of the figures: The figures in this table are final. Amendments as of 25 May 2022: None, this table has been discontinued. Changes as of 8 March 2019: The figures of the person characteristics gender, age and sexual preference for the 2014 reporting period were incorrect. This has been corrected in this version. When are new figures coming? No longer applicable. This table is followed by the insecurity and victimisation table; young people 15 to 25 years old. See paragraph 3.
