This table shows data on all materials entering or leaving the Dutch economy through import, export and extraction. These include raw materials, semi-finished products and finished products. The import and export of materials are presented in both kilos (physical) and euros (monetary). The table presented here is also called the material flow account.
The table is part of the environmental accounts. The environmental accounts quantify the relationship between the economy and the environment. In order to achieve a consistent statistical description of this relationship, environmental accounts are aligned with the classifications and definitions of the national accounts. As a result, environmental figures from the environmental accounts deviate from the environmental figures elsewhere on CBS website in a number of cases.
Data available from 1996 to 2012.
The table was discontinued as of 8 December 2015. The reason for cessation is that figures on material flows are calculated according to a new method. The table is followed by the new tables Winning, Import and Export of Materials by Type; national Accounts and Gaining, Import and Export Materials by Continent; national accounts. See paragraph 3.
