This table contains age-specific fertility rates (number of children per woman) by maternal and female birth number. The figures refer to the population of the Netherlands.
The fertility rates consist partly of observations, complemented by future expectations of age-specific fertility rates.
Data available: from birth generation 1935
Status of the figures:
The figures based on the numbers of births observed up to and including the year 2019 are definitive. Figures supplemented by future expectations of fertility figures come from the CBS Population Forecast 2020-2070. This means that the total of all ages is filled with observations up to and including birth generation 1969. The fertility rates per age are filled with observations up to birth generation 2 019 min age. For example, for age 30, birth generations 1935 to 1989 are based on observations; the next generation of births is based on the prognosis.
Changes as of 16 December 2020:
None, this is a new table in which the previous forecast has been adjusted based on the observations now available. The forecast period now runs from 2020 to 2070. This new table incorporates the figures relating to birth observations up to and including 2019.
When are new figures coming?
The frequency of appearance of this table is one-off. In December 2023, a new table showing the (prognosis of) fertility rates will be published.
