Dataset description

The so-called “Old Law” consists of archives of West Frisian courts prior to 1811. These dealt with civil cases and criminal cases, from the smallest offenses to the most serious crimes. They also recorded the transfer of real estate and taking out mortgage loans. In addition, the same kind of deeds could be found there as the notary. Finally, supervision of the management of orphan goods by guardians was also a task of the courts.
