Line file with fault lines. A fault line is the intersections of a geological fracture with the earth’s surface. Along a fracture, the soil layers have been shifted to each other.
A large number of fractures and fracture systems are present in North Brabant. The majority of these are from south-east to north-west. The main and largest fractures are the Peelrand fracture, the Feldbiss and the Gilze-Rijen fracture. These fractures border the so-called Central or Roerdalslenk, an area which has been declining for a long time in geological history.
Not all displayed fractures are manifested at ground level. Some of them only occur at greater depth. The depth of the fractures varies from ground to about 3 km. In the case of ‘Class’ it is called whether the fracture is expected to occur relatively shallow or deep. From the fields ‘DGM’, ‘REGIS’ and ‘DGM-PLUS’ it can be inferred to which formation the fracture belongs according to each type of subsurface model. Fractures occurring in the Boxtel Formation (BX) are fractions that are active up to the base of this mowing field formation. A large part of it will continue to the ground. An uncertainty of 200 metres on either side of the fractures is used. This means that a fracture location is indicative and when the exact location is determined, expert and/or field research on the fractures will often be necessary.
