This table shows the established debt of the government divided into
lenders. The total established debt is determined by the National
accounts such as debt in bonds and long government loans.
In addition, the debts within the government (e.g. the central government)
government to the regional government concerning the possession of municipalities and
provinces in government bonds) not taken into account. This provides the
consolidated established debt of the government on. The bond debt
is, like the holding in bonds of the lenders, included at
stock market value. This differs from the EMU debt, in which bonds against
nominal value is included.
The distribution by lender concerns the counterparties that play a role
in the financing of the established public debt. There are two
sources for the data of the counterparties.
Statistics Institutional Investors are the source of
holdings of government bonds of financial institutions and their
long-term loans to the government. From the National Accounts
the data on the share of foreign countries in the
government debt and domestic debt excluding financial
institutions.
The table contains absolute data in billions of euros as well as the
percentage of the lenders’ share of government debt.
