This table provides information on the number of young people who have had Halt treatment per population group (the so-called Halt youths). Halt is a measure that ensures that young people do not come into direct contact with justice after committing light crime, but are confronted with the consequences of their actions. A penalty at Halt lasts 2 to 20 hours and can consist of several things: a work sentence, apprenticeship, apologies and/or possibly a compensation settlement.
The table shows how many young people have had Halt treatment per type of crime. Classifications are made by gender, age and origin. These figures are rounded to dozens. A young person who has been referred to Halt more than once is counted only once in the table.
In order to show how young people in the Netherlands are doing, the National Youth Monitor describes more than 70 topics in addition to this topic. The topics are called indicators.
Data will be available from 2005.
