This table gives an overview of the absolute number of young people per population group and the number of young people per 10 000 inhabitants of the selected population referred to Halt for a Halt sentence (the so-called Halt youths) and completed the sentence in the publication year. Halt is a measure that ensures that young people do not come into direct contact with justice after committing light crime, but are confronted with the consequences of their actions.
The table shows how many young people have completed a Halt penalty per type of crime in the publication year. A young person who has been referred to Halt more than once within a year is counted only once in the table. The type of offence is then determined on the basis of the first offence for which this young person was referred to Halt.
The absolute figures are rounded to dozens. The table also shows relative figures; for different population groups, the number of persons per 10,000 people from the population concerned has been Halt.
Young people who cannot be linked to the Basic Registration Persons (BRP) often lack personal data. These young people are included in the absolute figures, but not in relative terms. For the first reporting year (2005) of this table, comparatively many Halt youth cannot be identified by missing personal data. As a result, the relative figures per 10,000 young people are not comparable to the later reporting years. The relative figures for 2005 will therefore remain empty.
Data will be available from 2005.
