Heat pumps; numbers, thermal power and energy flows

This table contains figures on the number of heat pumps, the capacity of these heat pumps and the amount of energy produced and consumed. The temperature of the heat from the soil or outside air is often not high enough for direct use. Therefore, heat pumps are used to bring the temperature to a sufficiently high level. Heat from the soil or outside air is a form of renewable energy. Figures have also been included on the avoided consumption of fossil energy and avoided carbon dioxide emissions. The data can be broken down by heat source (floor or outdoor air) and by sector (residential or utility). Data available from: 1994 Status of the figures: This table provides final figures up to 2020 and provisional figures for 2021. Changes as of June 2022: Preliminary figures 2021 have been added. When will there be new figures: Preliminary figures for the previous year appear each year in May. Further preliminary figures for the previous year appear each year in June. Final figures for the previous year appear each year in December.
