The use of public transport is strongly determined by the quality of pre- and post-transport. The area of influence of a bus stop indicates how far people are willing to walk to the stop. The area of influence is larger as public transport is faster, the frequency is higher and the journey goes over a greater distance. For bus and tram lines, an influence area of 400 to 500 meters is common, for metros 700 to 1000 meters. Province of South Holland has identified four categories in which the regions of influence are calculated: 1. National railway stops: 1200 meters.
2.
Regional railway stops (local train or metro):
1200 meters.
3.
Bus stops and tram category HOV:
800 meters.
4.
Bus and tram stops category Non-HOV:
500 meters.
This dataset contains the category 2 areas of influence.
— The Zuid-Holland network of public transport influence areas, connections and stops is made up of main (NS) railway connections, regional rail connections, metro systems, express tram connections and regional express bus connections.
