This table shows the number of first-year students at the government-funded higher education institutions by type of education, training phase, course of study, pre-training, age and academic year. From the academic year 2015/'16, this table also contains the number of first-year students at a number of designated institutions: the theological universities and the University of Humanistics. In previous years, these students were included in a separate StatLine table. For the most recent academic year -2015/'16 — no formation on the subject of study is yet available. There has been a clustering of fields of study in several higher education programmes, which means that the year-on-year comparison cannot be made up for. In the third quarter of 2016, a new table covering the fields of study from the academic year 2015/'16 will be drawn up.

Status of the figures:
The figures for the academic years up to and including 2014/‘15 are final and those for the academic year 2015/’16 are provisional. As this table has been discontinued, the data will no longer be definitive.
