The data in this table refer to the number and percentages of homeless people aged 18 to 65 in the Netherlands. Breakdowns have been made by gender, age group, migration background and whereabouts (whether or not registered in one of the major cities).
Level data: 1 January 2009-2018.
This research focuses on the population of actually homeless people. These are people who sleep in the open air, in covered public spaces, such as doors, bicycle parking, stations, shopping centres or a car, or sleeping indoors in the social shelters and one-day emergency shelters, or on a non-structural basis with friends, acquaintances or family, without a permanent residence.

Due to the lack of a legal basis of one of the sources used by CBS for the size estimate, this can no longer be provided by the Stichting Informatievoorziening Zorg (SIVZ). For this reason, the data collection for the reporting years 2017 and 2018 for the relevant source took place directly with the healthcare institutions concerned.
