This table shows the amounts of household waste collected per municipality. This data has been collected in the context of the statistics on ‘Community waste, quantities’. A small part of the municipalities do not submit the questionnaire and therefore no figures are available from these municipalities. Figures on one or more types of waste may also be missing from the municipalities that have submitted the questionnaire. Therefore, the quantities per municipality are not added to a nationwide total.
If the data of one or more waste components are missing, it is not possible to determine the total amount of household waste per municipality. In order to be able to publish a total amount per municipality, it has been chosen to use estimated data. However, this is only done when the quantities of the wastes whose data are missing are relatively small.
When several municipalities manage a joint environmental street or if municipalities have the waste collected by a common scheme, figures are not always available per individual municipality. In these cases, the total amount of waste collected is distributed among the municipalities based on the number of inhabitants. As a result, all participating municipalities are allocated the same amount of waste per inhabitant.
The amount of household waste per inhabitant can vary greatly per municipality. There are several reasons for this. For example, in a municipality with a lot of high-rise buildings, less GFT waste and coarse garden waste will be released because there are fewer gardens. In municipalities with a diftar system, where households have to pay more if they deliver more waste, less waste per inhabitant is often released. Tourist municipalities often collect more waste. The latter is mainly visible on the Wadden Islands where a relatively large amount of waste per inhabitant is released.
This table has been discontinued because a new version is available, which shows more waste.
