In this table you will find information about the ownership of Dutch vehicles
households by household characteristics (urbanity rate of residential municipality,
income class and household size).
The ownership of means of transport in households is shown in an ordinal
scale. The reason for this is that many households have more than one
have means of transport. To get a clearer picture of the wise
on which the property of the means of transport is organised, it is advisable to
select topics (the entire table). To the following explanatory memorandum
it’s based on this.
Example1: the column under ‘motorcycle’ in 1999 states that 0.2 %
of the two-person households has a motorcycle. It’s
however, these two-person households may, in addition to a motorcycle, also
have one or more other means of transport. The table is so arranged
that there may be means of transport in the two-person households
which are on the right of the column ‘motorcycle’ (so moped, bicycle
etc.), but no means of transport indicated on the left (i.e. not, one or
more cars).
Example 2: to calculate how many two-person households over minimum
one car may have the percentages under the columns ‘1 car’, ‘2’
cars’ and ‘More than two cars’ are added together. In 1999, there was
85.8 % of the two-person households own at least one car, vice versa
14.2 % of these households were carless (total of columns below
“motorcycle” to “No/Other”).
