Dataset description

This table contains figures on the use of information and communication technology (ICT) by companies with 2 or more persons employed. The data can be broken down by company size and industry. Normally, the research into the ICT use by companies is limited to companies with 10 or more persons employed. In 2018, this study, with a slightly less comprehensive questionnaire, was also carried out among companies with 2 to 10 persons employed. In order to compare the ICT use of small businesses with those of the larger companies, some of the results of the large companies are also included in this table. The reporting period covers the year 2019. However, a number of topics relate to the year 2018. In such cases, this shall be stated in the explanatory memorandum on the subject in question. Data available for 2019. Status of the figures: The figures in this table are final. Change as of June 2020: The effect on online platform revenue is split into Effect online platforms ecommerce for businesses with ecommerce and Effect online platforms ecommerce for all businesses, including those without e-commerce. Changes as of April 2022: In the previous version, the category ‘Own personnel and external supplier’ was not included in the sub-section on ‘Implementation of ICT security’. The figures on “Fix Internet connection” have been overhauled by an improvement in an imputation rule. The subject ‘Incident occurred’ shall be broken down into ‘Incident by internal cause’ and ‘Incident by external attack’. The subject ‘Incident occurred’ is omitted. The subjects of the sections ‘Action of ICT security incidents’ are classified by internal and external causes and those from ‘Costs by ICT security incidents’ according to costs due to internal or external incidents. Furthermore, the figures in this table have been revised by the use of improved elevated factors and an improved estimation methodology of turnover figures. When are new figures coming? Figures for 2020 will be available in January 2021.
