In this publication, households are classified according to income levels into four or ten income groups of equal size.
The demarcation takes place after all households are ranked from low to high income based on annual income. It distinguishes various income concepts, namely primary income, gross income, disposable income and standardised disposable income. Households are further distinguished by characteristics such as household composition, age and origin grouping of the main cost earner, main source of income, housing situation and region.
