Dataset information
Dataset description
This table shows for the mining industries, industry,
energy supply, water extraction and recycling information on the total
quantity of waste released by operating class, broken down by
type of waste (=waste category), the method of processing or processing
(reuse or end processing) and company size.
Commercial wastes are distinguished in hazardous and
non-hazardous waste.
This table only provides information on the non-hazardous
wastes. A distinction is made in chemical and
non-chemical waste. The non-chemical wastes are still
further disaggregated.
The released commercial waste is reused or offered
for “final processing”. Landfill and incineration of waste are the
main forms of final processing.
Over the years, there have been a number of changes in statistics.
Industrial wastes occurred.
The European Waste Regulation entered into force in May 2002,
including the European Waste List (EURAL). The
Eural list uses a different classification classification of the substance types
then the Dutch waste list.
In 2004 statistics were used for the first time.
The Eural List. Therefore, the figures per category of waste for 2004 are not
clearly similar to the results of 2004 and later years.
In 2008, the demarcation of the population changed to a new
version of the CBS Standard Business Classification (SBI 2008). With this
the SBI'93 used so far has expired. Comparison of
the results per business class with the results of previous years is
therefore, not always meaningful.
The transition from SBI'93 to SBI 2008 has led to a small difference
in the demarcation of the research population. In addition, they have entered
the research population shifted between business classes.
The main changes:
— for 2008, publishers fell under the business class Publishers,
printing and reproduction (code 22, SBI'93). From 2008 onwards, the
Publishers (code 58, SBI 2008) outside the research population. Follow-up
of these, the population of the holding class 22 (SBI'93)
similar business class Graphic industry (code 18, SBI 2008) is
taken away.
— for 2008 the business class Preparation for recycling fell (code 37,
SBI'93) under the Industry sector (codes 15-37). As of 2008, this
business class under the new sector Water extraction and recycling
(codes 36+ 383).
— before 2008 the business class of extraction and distribution of water fell (code
41, SBI'93) under the manufacturing and distribution of and trade in
electricity, natural gas, steam and hot water (codes 40-41). From 2008 onwards
this business class under the new sector Water extraction and recycling
(codes 36+ 383, SBI 2008).
— for 2008, repair and installation companies were mainly covered by
the metalworking industries (business classes 28, 29, 31, 32, 33 and
35, SBI'93). From 2008 onwards, these companies were included in the newly created
business Class Repair and Installation (code 33, SBI 2008). This intervention
has had an impact on the size of the populations of the
business classes 25, 26, 27, 28 and 30.
