This table shows the share of investments in Dutch investment funds by institutional investors. Since 2009, investment funds have grown enormously as a result of the conversion by pension funds of their investments into mutual funds established by them. The conversion means that these investments count twice: for pension funds as shares in mutual funds and with mutual funds such as shares, bonds and real estate. As of 2013, this phenomenon can also be seen by insurers. By eliminating the shares in investment funds, double counting is avoided.
Data available from 1998 to 2017, quarterly figures from 2010 to 2017.
