This table provides figures on the number of young people receiving youth care in kind (in kind, youth protection and/or youth rehabilitation) in 2020 and the number of pathways through which this youth care was provided in kind. Data on young people are broken down by age and household composition on 1 January of the year in question. The youth care pathways in kind are broken down by perspective (see a second last paragraph in section 4 Sources and methods) and reference. Data are also broken down by municipality and district.
The breakdown by municipality and district is based on the address of the young person’s authority. The residence principle as applied in the Youth Act, which entered into force in 2015, was applied. If the address has changed during the reporting period, the young person is assigned the most recent address in this table.
The aggregation of the number of young people across multiple forms of youth care within a (sub) total may be greater than the (sub) total itself. A young person may have several pathways with different forms of youth care, but each type of care or (sub-) total involves a young person only once.
For some young people, only the municipality is known according to the residence principle, but not the specific address. In these cases, the young person is included in the total for the municipality, but not in one of the underlying districts. As a result, the figures of the districts within a municipality may not add up to the municipality’s total.

Figures by municipality and district will appear in a new table each year. Figures for other years since 2015 can be found under the link “Youth Care Tables” in paragraph 3.
More information on issues affecting the comparability over time of the figures in this table can be found in section 4.
