Dataset description

Hoog Nederland is het deel van Nederland waar het oppervlak grotendeels bestaat uit pleistocene afzettingen. Ongeveer een kwart van dit areaal is tijdens het Holoceen (na 10.000 BP) afgedekt door sediment dat is afgezet door water (colluvium, beek- en rivierafzettingen e.d.), wind (stuifzand), plantengroei (veen) en de mens (cultuurdekken). Door deze afdekkingen zijn de archologische resten veelal beter beschermd tegen latere verstoringen.
