2.2 Restriction areas
Four restricted areas have already been included in the LIB since its entry into force in 2003. This amending Decision does not alter the location of these four restricted areas. With this amending act, a fifth area has been added to this: the so-called 20Ke area from the Space Note. This has been done to continue the legal process, as indicated in the Structure Vision Infrastructure and Space (SVIR). The rules aim to leave sufficient space within this fifth area for the development of the mainport Schiphol and, on the other hand, to enable (residential) developments. Both serve the national interest. Due to consistency, the 20Ke contour has been retained as a geographical delimitation of this planological “area of assessment”. The location of this planning area corresponds to the planological area in the Space Note. By its name, the ‘20Ke’ evokes associations with the sound contours on which it originates. Therefore, this Decision refers to this area as ‘planological balance area’ and does not refer to it as a sound contour.
The rules within the five restricted areas are explained in Chapter 4.
