In this table you will find a historical series of annual figures from 1800 on the composition of the Dutch labour force aged 15 to 65 by gender and a number of other personal characteristics. Data on registered unemployed by migration background and education level are only available from 1996 onwards. The data on occupational, socio-economic status and social class are only available from 1975 onwards and relate only to the total working population. Until 1987, the definition of the working population differs slightly from the current definition.
These are people who work at least 15 hours instead of 12 hours.
Data available from 1800 to 2013
Status of the figures:
New revised tables on the labour force were published on 26 February 2015.
This revision of the statistics of the labour force has two parts.
The definitions have been adapted to the internationally agreed definitions and data collection has been improved by being the first statistical office in Europe to survey via the Internet.
The figures in this table have not yet been revised and therefore deviate from other data on the labour force on StatLine.
For more information on the revision, see the link to the press release in paragraph 3.
