The data in this table are based on the Labour Force Survey
(EBB). The EBB is an investigation carried out by CBS to
gather information on the relationship between people and the labour market.
The characteristics of individuals are associated with their current
or future position on the labour market.
This table contains data from 1970 according to the current definition
(1991) of the working population aged 15 to 65. The labour force
it consists of the employed and unemployed labour force. According to
the 1991 definition belongs to the working population of all
people who work 12 hours or more per week. To the unemployed
the labour force is counted as those who do not or less than 12
working hours per week and actively seeking employment of at least twelve
hours a week.
Since 1987, data on the labour force have been based on the EBB.
The data on the labour force according to the new definition in the
years before 1987 are based on the Labour Force Counts of 1981,
1983 and 1985, the time series recorded unemployment according to the definition
1991, and the time series of labour force according to the past
definitions used. For a detailed description of the
method used to arrive at a neat time series, see "Composition
recorded unemployment rates and time series", H.B.A.
Bierings and C.M. Kragt, in: Survey of labour force 1994, CBS.
Due to a new weighing method of the EBB, all EBB tables are
stopped and moved to the archive. Instead of being
new tables created.
In these new tables are the figures with a new weighing method
corrected until 2001. Since 2001, it is also
possible for a limited set of variables quarterly figures
to publish. The years for 2001 have not been corrected and
it concerns the previously published figures. An extensive
description of the new weighing method of the EBB can be found
on the theme page.
