Dataset description

This set of maps for four archaeological periods (early Holocene (12,000 BC) to 900 AD) shows the different landscapes for the whole of the Netherlands. In addition, the maps for each period show the degree of preservation of the buried landscapes and the palaeo height: a reconstruction of the height (or depth) of the landscapes. This results in an expected depth of the archaeological remains per period. The landscaping maps are a combination of the set ‘Buried Landscapes’ for Holocene NL and the Archaeological Landscape Map for Pleistocene NL.
