Lifelong learning; active labour force, operating characteristics, 2003-2021

This table contains figures on the participation in lifelong learning of the working population aged 15 to 75 in the Netherlands. The data can be broken down by different background characteristics such as gender, age, industry and company size. At the same time, people undergo formal training as non-formal training. These persons are included in this table among those undergoing formal training. As a result, the number of persons undergoing non-formal training in this table is somewhat lower than the actual number of persons undergoing non-formal training. Due to changes in the research design and questionnaire of the EBB, a revision of the figures for reporting year 2021 was carried out in the first quarter of 2022. The figures for 2021 are not necessarily comparable to the previous reporting periods. In this table, we see a break with previous years in the figures on participation in non-formal education. In this, the EBB questionnaire has become personal, whereas respondents were asked about the situation for the whole family or household. Now everyone answers only for themselves and not for others anymore. For non-formal courses, it appears that if they are reported by others, they are less well measured.
