Dataset description
The map shows how much light can be seen in the Netherlands at night in 2015, seen from above, expressed in 10-10 Watts per cm² per steradial. In areas that light up red, a lot of light is emitted, such as in the greenhouse area in South Holland. In other areas, such as in the north of the Netherlands, little light is emitted from the cities. Lighting in the evening and night allows us to be active for longer (sports, going out) and contributes to traffic and social safety.
