Mediation of contemporary art, 1994, 1996, 2001

This publication provides a numerical overview of the area of the mediation of contemporary art in the Netherlands (art lending institutions, galleries and art consulting firms). The information presented includes information about institutions (activities), offer (collection, exhibitions), use (visitors, loans and users) and on economic aspects of institutions (staff, volunteers, finance, subsidies, sales and payments to artists). The works of art without mediators (e.g. directly from studios) and works of art previously owned from private or company (via art trades, auctions and the like) do not belong to the observed area on which this publication informs. The institutions for mediation contemporary art form a important link between visual artists and audience: they mediate between client and artist with the goal of contemporary to borrow or sell works of art.
