Mopeds; type of vehicle, fuel, year of manufacture, 1 January, 2007-2022

This table contains data on all vehicles with a valid Dutch moped registration according to the position on 1 January of each year. The data is based on information from RDW’s vehicle registration register. Registration for these vehicles has been mandatory since 1 September 2005. Of all Dutch mopeds and mopeds, the technical data of the vehicle and the personal data of the owner/holder are registered. With the help of this registration, counts have been made, broken down by characteristics of the vehicle (type, year of manufacture and fuel type). The number of speed pedelecs on 1 January 2022 is 2.0 percent of the total number of vehicles with a moped license plate. About two-thirds of the speed pedelecs are included in the mopeds and a third with the mopeds. From the reporting year 2020, electric mopeds have also been included in the category of brommobiles. Before that, these electric vehicles were included in the category Other vehicles with a moped registration.
