Municipal elections, 2002

This publication provides information on the number of votes validly cast per political group tootised on all municipalities of the Netherlands where an election to the municipal council was held on 6 March 2002. Total figures for the whole of the Netherlands have also been included on the council members appointed in response to these elections, the newly elected aldermen and the mayors. On 6 March 2002, the municipal council vote took place in 458 of the 496 municipalities. The results in this publication are an aggregation of the results in all 458 municipalities that held an election to the municipal council on this date. As a result of municipal reorganisation or aggregation, no vote took place on that day in 38 municipalities. The election results of these 38 municipalities are included in the publication ‘Community elections in connection with municipal reclassifications’.
