This table provides information on the expenditure and income of all cleaning activities carried out by the Dutch municipalities. These cleaning activities concern:
— The collection and collection of household waste;
— The taking of waste from (small) companies, offices and shops;
— Sweeping streets, cleaning beaches, and the like;
— The transhipment and transport of the waste;
— The processing of the collected waste.
Municipalities often outsource the collection, transport and especially the treatment of waste to third parties, such as neighbouring municipalities, joint schemes and private companies. The costs are also included in the figures. The costs and expenses are shown by activity and service by province, size class and urbanity of the municipalities.
