The statistics Museums provides information about companies and institutions in The Netherlands showing the material testimonies of man and his environment acquire and present. It is not just companies and institutions whose operating a museum is the main activity, but also museums that ancillary activity forming a business or institution, (e.g. part of a municipality, a university or a hospital). This table gives figures about — the number of museums; — the number of museums by visitor size class; — the total number of visits broken down by paying and free visits; — the average number of visits per museum and the number of visits foreigners; — staff (measured both in number of persons and in working years) in paid employment, staff employed as other remunerated or volunteered. The above information is further detailed by type of museum, staff composition and size class. Size class of the museum expressed in the number of jobs converted into full-time jobs occupied places.
