Dataset description

1.GENERAL DATA The table provides insight into three absenteeism factors, namely the absenteeism rate, frequency of illness and average duration of the discontinued cases of illness, of workers in companies and institutions. The absenteeism rate is shown for both the first as a second year of illness. The absenteeism rate it is also broken down by duration class. The average duration of discontinued cases of illness are given both for cases that have ended in the first year of disease and for the second year of disease. The absenteeism rates are also broken down by different personal characteristics and characteristics of the company where the employee works and other characteristics: — gender, — age, — marital status, — origin grouping, — wage class, — part of the country, — province, — urbanity, and — economic activity (SBI 1993) by business sectors, branches and classes, — size of the holding or institution; and — period. Data available from: 2002. Frequency: stopped as of 13 February 2009. Changes to the previous version As of February 13, 2009, CBS stopped the NVS because statistical representativeness of absenteeism data it was not enough for a long time. There was also insufficient confidence that the quality and representativeness of the NVS data in the near future they would improve. Publication of national absenteeism rates will from now on, on the basis of a quarterly period of absenteeism, companies. The 2005 data were added on 12 December 2006 and the data revised in 2004. The 2004 default rates differ from the previous ones. published numbers over the same period. By extending the control and correction method has become possible to overlap remove default periods. This adjustment ensures that previously published absenteeism rate for 2004 with approximately one 0.5 percentage points have fallen. The default rates for 2002 and 2003 will be it will be revised later. The following corrections have been made to the 2005 default figures: — due to the reduced quality of UWV employee data, this data has been corrected with the help of employment. development as derived from CBS’s Labour Accounts; — of absenteeism of the UWV safety net cases over the second half only limited information is available from 2005. For that is corrected by the 2004 trend in 2005 of the safety net cases from the first half of the year, to be applied to the second half of 2005; — the default figures do not include the agricultural sectors and fisheries, care, education and financial institutions. Through the liberalisation of occupational safety services as of 1 July 2005, companies for the prevention and guidance of absenteeism no longer obligated to hire an occupational health service. This has in some industries led to a non-representative response. It’s going to the sectors of education, health and welfare and financial institutions. Status of the figures: For the time being, the figures are of a provisional nature. The National Nursing Statistics (NVS) replaces the quarterly survey ‘Ziekteverzuim Private Companies’ that CBS the years 1995 to the first quarter of 2004 were held. This is research was based on a written survey on a sample of companies. The NVS also replaces the quarterly survey in the long term. “Disease absenteeism” (research period 1 992 to 2004) and the annual survey ‘Ziekteverzuim Government’ (research period 1 992 to 2003). The above statistics will remain available on StatLine. When comparing the results of the NVS with the results of the previous absenteeism statistics should be taken into account held: — The NVS also includes absenteeism with the government. As a result, the NVS is not entirely comparable to the old quarterly statistics, where national government and private companies become separate displayed; — In the statistics on absenteeism the national government was in the absenteeism rate default for more than one year (in the case of the NVS this is from 2005); — The NVS only gives the default recorded by health and safety services and UWV again; — The NVS does not yet have sufficient data on the absenteeism in the agriculture and fisheries, care, education and financial sectors institutions; — The NVS makes it possible for different background characteristics to be failure can be linked and that multiple absenteeisms can be displayed; — Further research is being carried out on the possibilities of publication of default figures for the (Rijks) government separately. Changes compared to the previous version: no, no, no. When will there be new figures: 2009 (tbc). Due to changes to the NVS system, use of data from the policy administration and due to changes in the regulations concerning recording of data in the failure records companies, health and safety services and UWV, the next update will not be earlier than April 2009 will be released.
