The National Archives manages a photo collection of about 14 million copies. Around 1.1 million are digitised and available online (https://www.nationaalarchief.nl/onderzoeken/fotos). In photos, copyright is often complicated. However, the National Archives have the rights of a significant part (about 430,000) of these images, making it possible to make them available as open data.
Most of the open data photos are available with a CC0 waiver but there is also older material available under Public Domain.
The material will be available soon (again) via an OAI-PMH API.
When presenting the individual photos, downloads are available in JPG and original TIFF format.
The photos and metadata are also available on Wikimedia Commons (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Images_from_Nationaal_Archief)
The photos that are available as open data come to a large extent from three photo archives. The Photo Collection First World War, the photo collection of the Poll and the Photo Collection Anefo.
