This table shows the supply and consumption of natural gas in balance form. The calculation of the offer is as follows: extraction from the soil plus production from other sources plus imports minus exports minus the supply of natural gas to ships sailing abroad (bunkering) plus stock change. The supply is equal to the amount of natural gas consumed in the Netherlands during the same period. This consumption is further broken down by the method of delivery via the gas network. This consists of a main transport network with linked regional networks. The large consumers get gas directly from the main transport network. These are the power plants and large companies. Small consumers, including households, receive natural gas through regional networks. In addition, there is a post of natural gas consumption in the extraction and transport. Finally, there is a small post of the flared or blown off natural gas.
Data available:
From 1946 per year and from 1982 per year, quarterly and per month.
Status of the figures:
— final until 2019;
— 2020 further provisionally;
— 2021 and 2022 provisionally.
Amendments as of 31 May 2022:
Preliminary figures for March and first quarter 2022 have been added.
Changes as of March 2021:
Redesign; data on “Bunkering” and “End stock” have been added. Closing stocks shall be calibrated once a year (end of January) on stocks as declared by AGSI. In the other months, the final stock is determined by means of the supply and delivery as measured by the Gasunie (GTS). As a result, it may be that there are differences from the values published on AGSI. In addition to adding the End Stock and Bunkering, a substantive overhaul has also been carried out. New insights about natural gas coming through pipes in the North Sea in our country have led to a shift from imports to extraction for the year 2020.
When are new figures coming?
Preliminary figures: the third month after the end of the reporting period.
Further preliminary figures: no later than December of the year following the reporting year.
Final figures: no later than December of the second year following the reporting year.
