The Province does not guarantee that this stock contains the most up-to-date situation per municipality. The municipalities own the files, which form the basis of this composite stock. The file shows the boundaries of the built-up area (core) for the Nature Conservation Act (formerly the Forest Act). Due to urbanisation and intensive use of the cultural landscape, the pressure on forest has increased considerably. The Nature Conservation Act is an important tool for maintaining the forest area. On the basis of this law, an owner or manager may be subject to a replanting obligation or ban on harvesting. The Nature Conservation Act only applies outside the limits of the ‘built-up area Nature Conservation Act’. The City Council shall set this limit. The limit does not have to coincide with the built-up areas under the road traffic law. If the municipality has not set a limit, then the Nature Conservation Act applies in principle to the centre of the urban area. The municipality of Winterswijk has different regulations. There are cores for the following municipalities, but no fixed date is known: the municipalities of Druten, Oost Gelre, Tiel, Voorst, Wageningen, Westervoort, West Maas and Waal, and Zevenaar.
