New-build homes; permits by client, form of ownership 1995-2016

This table contains part of the results of the monthly statistics on building permits issued. In this table, the data on housing construction is published according to the number of homes for which an environmental permit with activity building has been granted (formerly building permit). The results for the period up to 2002 relate to building permits granted with a construction sum starting from EUR 45 thousand. Since 2002, the lower limit has been increased to EUR 50 thousand. The data are broken down by client for construction, by type of property (rental and owner’s homes) and by region of lands, provinces, COROP areas and municipalities. As of reporting year 2016, CBS will no longer publish data on metropolitan agglomerations and urban regions. Due to various social developments, the philosophy and method underlying the demarcation are no longer topical. In addition, it appears that, depending on the scope of application, other authorities use a different classification of metropolitan agglomerations and urban regions, which means that it is no longer possible to speak of a single standard. Data are available from January 1995 to December 2016. Status of the figures: The figures are final. Changes as of 8 May 2017: None, this table has been discontinued. As of reporting year 2017, a different methodology shall be used for the publications, in which: — The figures of municipalities with non-response are estimated. — Completed declarations of municipalities over previous periods are included in the figures for the month in which the permit was granted. — Provisional figures are also published. — 12 months after publication, the figures are definitively fixed.
