Dataset description

The table consists of three parts. The last update was on October 23, 2014. The ‘total balance of minerals’ section was updated every five years. The supply and discharge flows are dominated by the international trade of all kinds of nitrogen and phosphorus products (such as food, animal feed, fertilisers and ammonia). For nitrogen alone, binding and emissions still play an important role in all kinds of industrial processes. The section “Mineral balance of soil and groundwater” was updated annually. The main supply flow in this is the administration of animal manure and fertiliser on agricultural land. The main drain flow is the harvest of crops. In this balance, a distinction is made between agricultural land and other land. The section “Mineral balance of fresh surface water” was updated annually. In addition to the flow of nitrogen and phosphorus through the large rivers, from abroad towards the sea, this is mainly about the drainage and drainage of agricultural land and other land and the discharges by industry, households and agriculture. The three parts together provide information on the quantities of nitrogen and phosphorus entering the environment. This can lead to acidification and fertilisation (eutrophication). Data available: 1986, 1990, 1995, 1997-2013 Status of the figures: final Changes as of 13 March 2018: None, this table has been discontinued. More relevant figures are available elsewhere (see paragraph 3). When are new figures coming? No longer applicable, this table will be discontinued.
