Dataset description

Lden, the average noise level of 24 hours of a year. The colours on the map show the influence of a highway on the surrounding area. Green stands for little noise, purple for a lot of sound. Only the sound level recorded on the map is higher than 55 decibels. Lower noise levels are not displayed. The map shows all highways managed by Rijkswaterstaat. Sound maps of other roads and other noise sources can be found in provinces and a number of municipalities.
