This table shows the injury rates by industry. The claim rate indicates whether sufficient premiums are received to be able to pay the claims submitted. If the percentage is less than 100 %, this is the case.
Non-life insurers compensate for damage suffered by insured persons in exchange for an annual premium. Non-life insurers are covered by the guidelines of the Dutch Insurance Supervision Act (WTV 1993).
The introduction of the Health Insurance Act in 2006 led to an expansion of the industry of Accidents and Disease with the former sickness funds. The basic insurance provided by the health insurers is seen as a social insurance. The basic insurance is therefore taken from non-life insurance.
The source for this statistics is the supervisory reporting of insurers to De Nederlandsche Bank. This report has changed significantly as of 2007. The processing method has therefore changed considerably. Some of the differences between the 2006 and 2007 figures are the character of a series break.
