This table provides quarterly estimates of cash expenditure, cash receipts and balances of other local government institutions. The estimates provide a quality indication for the European Commission on the quarterly contribution to the general government balance of the other decentralised government institutions. For the official government balance per quarter, you can use the figures published in the national accounts. This table gives effect to EU Directive 2011/85. This Directive forms part of six European legislative measures known as ‘Sixpack’.
The CBS published the revised National Accounts in June 2018. Among other things, GDP and total public expenditure have been revised upwards. As part of the revision, the determination of the population of local non-profit institutions has improved qualitatively. The observed population has grown in size. From the first quarter of 2018, this table publishes cash expenditure, cash receipts and the balance after revision for the remaining local authorities. The figures for the quarters before were not adjusted on the basis of the revision. As a result, there is a break between Q4 2017 and Q1 2018 due to the changed observed population of local non-profit institutions.
Data available from: first quarter of 2014.
Status of the figures:
The reporting year 2021 has the status provisionally, the reporting years 2020 and earlier have the status final.
Changes as at 31 March 2022:
Provisional figures for Q4 2021 are included.
The figures for the first three quarters of 2021 have been adjusted on the basis of new information.
When will there be new figures?
The new quarterly figures are published three months after the end of the quarter. If a new quarter is published, the provisional figures for the previous quarter may be adjusted. After publication of annual figures, the figures become definitive. In the case of a revision of the National Accounts, all reporting years prior to the most current first quarter will receive the status definitively.
