Dataset description

The Dutch landscape has constantly changed since the end of the last ice age, 11,700 years ago. The paleogeographic maps show how the Dutch landscape has looked like during these thousands of years. For thirteen different moments since the Ice Age, these maps reflect the old geographical situation, based on the analysis and interpretation of tens of thousands of ground drilling, new geological, soil and archaeological research.
