This table shows the number of persons who received a personal budget (Pgb) at the end of quarter by the health care office for self-purchase or hiring of long-term care. Until 2015, the number of persons granted a PGI will be followed by the General Law on Special Medical Expenses (AWBZ). As of 2015, long-term care will be financed through several laws: the Long-term Care Act (Wlz), the Social Support Act 2015, the Health Care Insurance Act and the Youth Act. From 2015 onwards, this table follows only the number of persons granted a PGI as dependants of the Wlz.
The PGI is a subsidy scheme, the ceiling of which is set annually by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. The number of persons who received a PGI at the end of the year is equal to the number of budget holders (Pgb) at the end of the fourth quarter of the year in question.
