In the Provincial Measurement Network freatic groundwater quality (formal name is Soil Quality Measurement Network), the quality of the upper groundwater (around the groundwater level) is measured. This is done at 104 locations in agricultural and natural areas.
The aim is to identify undesirable changes in a timely manner and to assess whether measures are effective or whether additional measures are needed. The original themes of fertilisation (for agriculture and manure policy) and acidification (for nature policy) have been brought together in the measuring network.
