Population; migration background, generation, lft, region, 1 Jan; 2010-2022

This table contains figures on the population of the Netherlands on 1 January by gender, age, migration background, generation and region. Figures by specific countries of origin are published if at any time 20 thousand or more persons with this migration background live in the Netherlands. The regions listed in the table are territories, provinces, COROP areas and municipalities. The regional totals presented concern aggregations of municipalities. In case of border changes that cross different regional borders, the division of the municipalities is grouped according to the most recent situation. CBS is moving towards a new classification of the population by origin. From now on, it is more decisive where a person was born, besides where one’s parents were born. The word migration background is no longer used. The main classification of Western/Non-Westerns is replaced by a classification based on continents and common immigration countries. This classification is gradually introduced in tables and publications with population by origin. Data available from 2010 to 2022. Status of the figures: All figures in the table are final. Changes as of 6 January 2023: None, this table has been discontinued. When are new figures coming? No longer applicable.
