Potential harvest of logs from the Dutch forest

What do you see? The map shows the average annual potential wood harvest (m³/yr) of the Dutch forest at municipal level. The wood harvest shown has been calculated as the total of dunnings and end caps. For this card, the potential (to be maintained for a longer period of time) wood harvest (split by end cap and dunning) from the Dutch forest is simulated with EFISCEN on the basis of the 6th national forest inventory (NBI6) broken down by owner class and forest type (needle/loof/mixed/poplar). Then, per municipality, the area per owner class and forest type was multiplied by the average wood harvest per owner class. What’s the value? The map shows the potential harvest of wood and its distribution at municipal level. The map provides insight into potential quantities of logs to be harvested in forest. Who is this important to? The map is important for forest owners and managers, wood processing industry, timber trade and energy sector.
