The National Base Files Primary Water Barriers (NBPW) provide a national overview where all primary flood defences (both dikes, dams and dunes, as well as works of art) are located. In addition to the location, a number of other characteristics have been recorded in the basic files such as standardisation. At the Kreekraksluis, Perkpolder and lock complex Terneuzen, changes have been made with regard to regional and primary system of flood defences. It is still unclear whether and when and how Rijkswaterstaat takes over these changes in their depositor. The primary flood barriers along the Westerschelde near Vlissingen-Oost, as well as the stretch dams of the Schelphoek, are in our map layer of primary flood defences. However, these are not in the map layer of Rijkswaterstaat itself. However, these barriers are included in the deposit of Waterschap Scheldestrooms.
