Quiet areas — Provinces (INSPIRE harmonised)

The concept of silence is rooted in the Noise Obstacle Act (Official Gazette, 1979). Stillness areas were defined as areas in which the noise load is so low due to human activity that the natural sounds prevailing in that area are not or hardly disturbed. In 1993, the article on silence areas in the Noise Obstacle Act came to an end and the legal framework was adopted in the Environmental Management Act.This file contains information in accordance with the INSPIRE data specifications for protected areas.
