Dataset description

This table contains data on the expenditure and financing of Research and Development (R & D) activities carried out with own and/or lent staff. In addition, figures are available on spending on R & D activities that are outsourced to abroad. Figures are given for the following sectors: — companies — institutions — higher education institutions. Data available from: 2013. Status of the figures: The data for 2013-2018 are final and the data for 2019 are provisional. Changes as of 13 July 2021: The figures for the year 2018 were unjustly already final. However, new, previously missing information has become available for the higher education sector. As a result, the figures for 2018 still need to be adjusted slightly. This is a minimum adjustment of less than 1 percent and is now included in the figures. In addition, the preliminary figures for 2019 have been added. When are new figures coming? Preliminary figures for 2020 will be published in the fourth quarter of 2021.
