Retail trade; turnover development internet sales, index 2015=100

This table contains figures on the turnover development of retail internet sales (SBI 2008 section 47). The data is divided in two ways. The first breakdown relates to the sales channel: this distinction is made in stores that mainly trade online and stores that mainly trade through other sales channels (physical store, market, etc.). The second breakdown relates to the main economic activity: a distinction is made in stores that sell mainly food and drugstores, consumer electronics, clothing and fashion goods or other non-food. The evolution is represented as a percentage change from a previous period and by means of indices with the base year 2015. The measured turnover development from internet sales relates to retail establishments in the medium and large enterprises (companies with 10 or more persons employed). These companies account for about 65-70 percent of online retail sales. Small businesses are not in the investigation. Data available from January 2014. Status of the figures: The figures for 2022 are provisional, those of the other periods are final. The figures for a calendar year shall become final no later than five months after the end of that calendar year. Due to the response, the figures can change until then and the status of ‘provisional’ is maintained. Amendments as of 31 October 2022: The figures for September 2022 and the third quarter of 2022 have been added. Figures from previous periods in 2022 may have been adjusted. When are new figures coming? For monthly statistics, CBS usually publishes six to eight weeks after the end of the reporting month. For quarterly statistics, CBS publishes on the last working day of the second month after the quarter. After publication of final results, CBS will only adjust the results if major adjustments and/or corrections are necessary.
